Water heaters typically can last as long as 12 years.  Over the past couple of years, they have had to meet some government regulations and are now about 2″ higher and 2″ wider.  This means you have to be sure that a new heater can fit in your closet or beneath the stairs.

At E.W. Tompkins Plumbing Heating Cooling, we typically ask for the customer to email or text us a photo of the water heater’s location.  We like to verify what type of water heater needs replacing:  electric, natural gas, or propane.   We can figure out if the natural gas heater is a “standard vent” that vents out the furnace, or a “pro vent” unit with a black blower and some PVC tubing that vents outside.

Water heater installations take about 2 hours to perform.  We drain and move the old unit and then haul in the new unit.  Then we configure the new piping and dispose of the old unit.  It is a 2 man job.  At E.W.
